As many of you already know Los Ingenieros is a UCSB student organization but what you may not be aware of is that LI is a student chapter of the national organization Society of Hispanic of Professional Engineers. As a student member you are entitled to several opportunities that include but not limited to conferences, professional exposure, leadership development and several scholarships. Many are not aware that SHPE offers its member scholarships through AHETEMS (Advancing Hispanic in Technology Engineering and Mathematics) which are due EVERY APRIL 1. In addition, membership is only $5 dollars in comparison to other organizations that range from $25 to $85 dollars for one year. As a SHPE member in LI you get food the entire year at meetings, intramural registration fee waived, free shirts, free food, socials at no charge, industry tour fee waived, scholarship eligibility, professional mentorship opportunities and much more!!!
